H O P E // a mixtape to self

Some time in 2016, I clearly felt something intensely enough to make a neck-breaking 90-minute playlist of punk, post-punk, and alternative songs running at a tempo of 150 bpm +. After rediscovering it today, I’ve had to take three rest sessions while listening to it all the way through due to overdoing the headbopping. While I was 4 years younger then, my neck was not made of rubber; I have no idea what it was that I was so enraged by that it allowed me to a make this muscular a mix without suffering any serious whiplash. In this, there’s a message of hope: this too shall pass. One day, a lot sooner than four years later, memories of today’s heartache will disappear and be replaced with a mixtape to self: a sort of pep talk, or as is the case with H O P E, a pep shout.

P.S. I even originally called this playlist hard, fast, and alone; I must’ve been beyond pissed with somebody or something.
